New HELIFACE Integral GRIP-Type Tools for Automatics, CNC's and Screw Machines
A wide range of GRIP-based face grooving holders for use on Swiss-type and screw machines, small automatics, and small CNC lathes is now available from ISCAR. The new toolholders have integral shanks and are available in sizes 10, 12, and 16 mm (.374, .500 and .629") in right- and left-hand versions The toolholders are designed in the parallel style HGHR/L to machine along the central shaft. All carry ISCAR's double-ended 3 mm (.118") twisted inserts.

For right-hand rotations, the GRIP 3003Y insert is used, and for left-hand, the HGPL 3003Y. With these small-width, twisted inserts mounted on integral tools, face machining can be performed along the central bar with a minimum diameter of 6 mm (.236"). The major diameter range is 12 to 25 mm (.472 to 1.0") in two tool sizes. The first size covers 12 to 16 mm (.472 to .63") and the second from 16 to 25 mm (.63 to 1.0").

The use of the integral shank design with screw clamping ensures strong and secure clamping of the long 3 mm (.118") insert. These new toolholders can be used for face grooving and face turning. The Y-type chipformer enables chip control in the face grooving feed range of 0.05 to 0.12 mm/rev (.002 to .005 ipr) and in side turning of 0.08 to 0.2 mm/rev (.003 to .008 ipr) with a depth of cut up to 1.8 mm (.07").

After the initial face groove is machined within the recommended diameter range, face turning is possible in both directions, to the outer diameter and to center. The new square-shank toolholders with screw clamping give more stability in machining, better clamping of the insert, and higher machining conditions.
